An Analysis On Scientific & Technological Innovation Construction Of The Nine Local Universities

Our party central committee and State Council put forward a big strategic task to enable China to rank among countries of innovation within 15 years. What is the most important for constructing a country of innovation is to regard as the basic point of developing science and technology the strengthening of independent innovation, the perfecting of national creation system, the following of direction of independent innovation with Chinese characteristics and the promoting the great-leap-forward development of science and technology. Colleges and universities are the main force for constructing the countries of innovation, especially the local ones, for which the construction of innovation is their priorities.For the convenience of the study, we selected nine local universities representing nine different provinces as our objects of study, namely Shanxi University, Yunnan University, Northwest University, Yangzhou University, Nanchang University, Heilongjiang University, Xiangtan University, Xinjiang University and Zhengzhou University. As research & teaching-oriented universities, the nine local universities bear similarities as well as differences in the construction of innovation in science and technology. Through the contrastive analysis of the related data on the teaching staff, funds for scientific & technological research, achievements of scientific & technological research and talents training, etc of the nine local universities and a vertical contrast with nine universities directly under the Ministry of Education, we have found the existing problems of the innovation construction of science and technology and proposed some related suggestions.
