In this article, literature, interview with expert, questionair, statistic, and synthesis methods were used to research the the current situation and development countermeasure of track and field of P.E. major in Jiangsu province university. Through the study, the author trying to find the problem of track and field teaching, analysing the factors, searching for countermeasures., and providing the references to the innovation with the track and field of P.E. major in Jiangsu province university.The results shows: (1) According to the syllabus of track and field of P.E. major in Jiangsu province university, making choice and conformity for the teaching context. It stand out the characters of health and practicability. But the expression of aim was not completed. The estimation with study gave priority to the estimation of teacher. (2)Many shool didn't hold the guidance in Jiangsu. (3) The importance of track and field was accepted by teachers and students in Jiangsu, but game, lesiure running, jumping, throwing did't become the context system of track field course. Now the teaching materials of track and field couldn't fulfil the demanding of teaching, it drop behind the development of the course. Many students didn't satisfy the teaching condition. (4) There are many factors influence the PE. Major in Jiangsu province university. About 50 percent and 90 percent track and field course didn't open the course of beamed and field living. (5) In the course of track and field teaching, the general teaching methods was used broadly. The new and morden teaching was less. (6) The context of evaluation with track and field learning became entirely and pluralistic. But the whole situation of implement was not satisfied. While the teacher estimate the ordinarily study of students, often be inclined to the quantitative contexts, and the students was inclined to all aroud aspects. Examination to the the practical ability, the rate of teachers high'agreement, contrast to the students'low agreement. (7) The age structure of the track and field teachers, the title of a technical post was preponderant, and the educational level need improve and reform. Most of the teachers believe they can adopt the teaching of track and field course. Training of the expanding coure teacher was fall behind. About third of the whole teachers hold negtive attitudes towand reform of track and field. (8) The interets of students toward the track and field course were not high. But many of the students was statisfied with current situation of track and field learning. Learning the theory and exercise skill depend on the course teaching. The study methods which suggested in morden time was less used.Combine with the development trends of PE teaching reform in normal university and the current situation of track and field teaching in Jiangsu province, this thesis provides many suggestion: (1) Optimizing the contexts of track and field teaching, consummating the system of teaching contexts. (2) Innovating the teaching methods, changing the manner of study. (3) Establishing pluralistic, reasonable and scientific evaluation system of track and field study. (4) Reinforcing the construction of teachers procession of track and field. (5) Develop pluralistic approach of teaching, changing the study manner of students, and trying enhance the current situation of track and field study of students.
