Cooperative learning is a kind of teaching theory and teaching practice and strategy system, which began in the 1970s and was applied in the classroom teaching in Europe and America, making a great progress. Cooperative learning has advantages in increasing the communication among students and helping the development of their skills in social communication and emotion. However, the systematic and practical research of cooperative learning started relatively late. After the exploration and attempt of educators and teachers for ages, we have accumulated a wealth of valuable experience which has been put into new course design. At present, we have much research in the theory of cooperative learning, but lack the research in teaching practice, which affects the application of New Course and educational reform. Based on this, we propose a specific model for cooperative learning in class, develop the research of cooperative learning practice and obtain some meaningful results.There are five chapters in the thesis.The first chapter mainly explains the four aspects: the social development, requirement of New Course, the situation of students and problems in teaching, in which we try to improve the teaching and learning by cooperative learning. The second chapter proposes a specific model for cooperative learning in class, based on the previous theories. The third chapter provides the design of the experiment and evaluation of this model. The fourth chapter introduces four classic cases in which the model is put into use. The last chapter is the analysis and summary of the experimental result. The four cases have different emphasis in the key elements. The case of'friction'focuses on the improvement of efficiency of class by clear division of work and frequent communication of members.。'The measure of velocity'aims to form the cooperative skills such as making sure about the division of work and individual responsibility. The experiment of different ways in measurement of density shows us the charm of cooperative: students can use their knowledge (quality, quantity, density, pressure and buoyancy) to achieve study motivation and success by integrating and processing.'Buoyancy'displays the importance of cooperation of teachers and students. The teacher arise the argument and doubt in the construction of knowledge and guides the students to have a breakthrough in the cooperative learning, thus promoting students' critical and deep thinking.
