Research-based learning has long been a regular teaching method abroad, especially in some developed countries. Research-based learning is being widely used in China in recent years as a newly–developed, reflecting the spirit and demands of qualified education and a new method for training qualified students. Being a basic subject in middle school, mathematics naturally can be a main field for carrying out research-based learning. What is the present situation of"research-based learning"in the relative poorly-developed Hulunbuir, then?Through the questionnaires from the teachers and students in four High School in Hulunbuir and the talk with some teaching heads, parents, teachers and students, the writer learned that the present situation is as follows in our city: Only some teachers in No.2 Middle School carried out"research-based"learning simply together with the students in their teaching and nobody else has ever done this in the other schools. To find the reasons, we found the similarities with the other regions in our country are as follows: First, the management in the schools is too old. Second, we lack for the support and funds guarantee from our government. Third, the evaluating system is still not so perfect and the teachers'teaching opinions are old-fashioned. Fourth, we seldom got the support from society and parents. Fifth, the teachers often overworked with heavy teaching burden and they have no spare time and energy to do research. Sixth, some teachers have less qualification and Last, there are fewer researched-based learning resources. The differences from the other regions are as follows: First, there are too many minority nationalities in our city, so the differences exist all the time, making it difficult to get common views. Second, over 30% students are Innermongolians and they had different basic education backgrounds. With poor bases, they still don't pay more attention to maths and unwilling to support our research. Third, with the backward economic development and cold weather, many good teachers have moved to some other developed cities. The writer thinks research-based learning in our city has a broad future but the pace should be slow. Before putting it into effect, we'd better set up some"selected schools"and summarize some suitable method and experience and then spread it to the other schools. Meantime, our government should make up some measures and polices to guarantee its being carried out. Also, this work should relay on not only the schools, but also the administrative department and local government to create some necessary conditions, to give strong support to the schools ( reforming and evaluating system; special fund for the school's equipment and the teachers'training; strengthening the spread, widening the supervision system, and increasing the manning quotas etc.) Last, we must gain the support from the parents, especially the parents from the Mongolian families to avoid any conflicts.By taking these measures, we can ensure the research can get enough labor power, material resources and financial resources and only in this way can research-based learning be performed very successfully in our city.
