Today, Environmental education and Education for Sustainable Development (shortened form: EE & ESD) is noticed by all of countries in the world. In our country, it becomes a strategic measure to achieve sustainable development and has been brought into courses of elementary and secondary school. From 2001, making students have environmental awareness became an important thing in the course reform of new elementary education.According to the theoretical research about EE & ESD and the teaching practice, the author tries to research EE & ESD in geography curriculum of the seventh grade and decide on the aim, the significance and content from which studying the development history, current situation and the meaning of EE & ESD. By monographic study about the teaching materials, the thesis try to study the content, aims and the statement form of EE & ESD in geography curriculum of seventh grade. The full text follows:First, find out the development history and the current situation of EE & ESD, and then decide the aim, the significance, the content, the thread of thought and the research methods.Second, according to the research, define the meaning of EE & ESD which includes three aims, three pieces of content, four features and four principles.Third, analyzes the theory foundation of EE & ESD. They include environment logy, ecology, the theory of sustainable development, geography and the geography theory of teaching.Fourth, analyzes the geography curriculum standards of junior middle school which contains the content of EE & ESD. Next, analyzes the teaching materials from three dimensions: the content, the aims, and the styles of statement. Every part will be analyzed from the elements, the structure and the features.Fifth, draw conclusions according to the analysis and put forward proposals to the problems, of which relate to the contant, the aims and the tyles of statement.The main conclusions are:Firstly, ED and ESD should be combined with each other and becomes ED & ESD today. As ED is facing the sustainable development and ESD can't depart from ED. It is a result that people think about how to harmonize with the nature and make nature, economy and society develop sustainable.Secondly, there are a lot of content of EE & ESD in geography curriculum standard and the geography teaching materials, especially in the teaching materials. The content has two features, one is dominance, and the other is recessive. The proportion of the recessive is 63%.Thirdly, in the teaching materials of grade seven, the relationship between people and the nature is the gist, and the guiding ideology is the theory of sustainable development. The content of EE & ESD makes the students understand the relation and the difference in nature, economy and society etc. in different areas.Fourthly, the aims in geography teaching materials of grade seven were divided into three parts: knowledge and technical ability, process and method, emotion, attitude and values. The most important and the ultimate aims are building proper values.Fifthly, in geography teaching materials of the seventh grade, the statement style includes pictures, written, pictures and written. The main style is pictures and written which takes 70% and it accords with the teaching rules and the rules of cognition.Sixthly, there are some problems in the geography materials and they are as followed. The education of the natural calamity is not enough. Students'dialectical mind training would be enhanced to make them look at problems all-sidedly. The details about the nature, the resource and the social problems aren't full. The aim of protect the environment and take part in it is not been emphasized enough. The practice action is few and it is necessary to add some pictures to the materials.Seventhly, the suggestion of teaching and edition are as followed. Study the materials deeply and build the theory of ED & ESD. Combines with the practice and develop active teaching. Make the content of EE &ESD completely. Add to the design of typical and active cases and the amount of pictures.
