Geography textbooks are an important resource of teaching activity-dependent andthe basis of geography education to achieve the objective. Preparation of excellentteaching geography textbooks plays a decisive role in the implementation of the newcurriculum and geography teaching. This paper mainly compares the surface system ofthe new version to old version of Hunan Education Press’s geography textbooks. Bycomparing the Text System, Image System and Operating System, identify new changesand features of the new geography textbooks’ surface system. On this basis, the authorproposes some inspiration and suggestions to geography textbooks’ writing.The first part of the thesis summarizes the major research background, theoreticalsignificance and practical value, and related research status and research results ofdomestic and foreign geography textbooks. In addition, the author also briefly explainsthe main purpose and content of the study and the basic ideas and the main methodsused in research studies.The second part of the thesis in-depth compares the Text System of HunanEducation Press’s old and new version of the seventh grade geography textbooks. Itmainly includes three relatively comparing contents: text content written expression,teaching guidance language and teaching aids. Finally, the author summarizes that textcontent written expression of the Text System of the new version’s geography textbooksis more scientific and rigorous, more vivid and interesting; the teaching guidancelanguage isn’t enough rich; the teaching aids are selected more properly and followingthe trend.The third part of the thesis systematically analyzes the Image System of HunanEducation Press’s Old and new version of the seventh grade geography textbooks. Itmainly includes three relatively comparing contents: images’ number, images’ type andimages’ quality. Finally, the author teases out that the images’ number of volume1has small changes but volume2has a significant increase; the images’ type is moreabundant and concentrated; the images’ quality improves significantly, and some otherfeatures.The forth part of the thesis focuses on the Operating System of Hunan EducationPress’s old and new version of the seventh grade geography textbooks. It mainlyincludes two relatively comparing contents: the type of activities in Operating Systemand the design of activities. According to these, the author finds out that the type ofactivities in Operating System of new version textbooks is diverse; the design process ofactivities is more coherent and logic; the activities’ degree of difficulty are in line withthe characteristics of seventh grade students and teaching requirements and otherfeatures.The fifth part of the thesis describes the important implications for our high schoolgeography textbooks written which are gotten by comparing the Surface System onHunan Education Press’s old and new version of the seventh grade geography textbooks.It primarily contains that the Text System’s contents should close to students’ life andpay attention to inspire and guide students; the teaching aids also should be selecteddiversely. About Image System, the textbooks’ writers should make the best efforts tofully exploit the images’ function, improve the images’ quality and optimize theallocation of graphic combinations. To Operating System, the textbooks’ writers shouldbetter increase more self-study jobs properly, set a different gradient operations anddesign more situational works.The sixth part of the thesis briefly summarizes the full text and further points outthe changes and new features of the Surface System on Hunan Education Press’s oldand new version of the seventh grade geography textbooks. In addition, it also brieflystates some problems in the thesis writing process and point out the main direction offuture research.
