Gratitude as an ethic theory has existed in any society from of old. It is not only an important moral foundation, but also the foundation of social order operation normally. It can be often seen that the contemporary teen-agers act ungratefully, which reflects there's something wrong with their gratitude character. So gratitude education to teen-agers is necessary and urgent.The thought of gratitude beginning in the religious doctrine, mainly applies in the psychology domain in near modern age. Domestic gratitude stemmed from China traditional culture. Special study in gratitude education to the teen-agers began in 2004. The scholars studied the main performance of gratitude missing to teen-agers, the causes and the solution countermeasure and so on, which have the insufficiency in fundamental research, overseas research and multi-disciplinary research.Gratitude, is expressing the approbation from the heart for the boon and favor the nature, society and the others giving to us, and a kind of understanding, emotion and behavior with sincere repay. The object of gratitude should include the parents, teacher, the friend, other people, the society, the motherland, the nature and so on. Gratitude education, is a humanistic education which is to cultivate students knowing gratitude, having gratitude, paying a debt of gratitude and bestowing favor depending on a certain contents of gratitude education by some certain educational ways or methods. Gratitude education has the characteristics of moral, subjectivity, experience and practicality.It can trace the source and course of gratitude from the culture of Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Christianity, seek the support from the theory of the anthropology, the sociology ,the psychology and Marxism. Summarizing the practice of gratitude education again to Japan, South Korea and the USA, it obtains valuable inspiration that overseas gratitude education paid great attention to"the mind education"and"the perceptual education", paid great attention to gratitude character and the practice education, and the educational channel relative diversification.Through the questionnaire survey, it obtains the conclusion that the gratitude view of the teen-agers students is actively heading up totally, but also have some problems which can not be ignored. The factors which influence the gratitude view mainly includes the individual internal factors and the external factor such as family, school, society.In countermeasure aspect, it discusses the basic principle such as the guidance main body diversification, the education process long residual action, the education environment returning life, the educational mode paying great attention to guide to internalize, the education effect effectiveness. The concrete matter is to help the teen-agers to set up the correct outlook on life, the values and the world outlook by Marxism, to establish an integrate gratitude educational system involved with family,school, society and teen-agers. and we must hold best opportunity for gratitude education.
