Knowledge of historical geography is a kind of knowledge on a certain historical period on the natural environment changes and the relationship of human society. The core of which is knowledge of man-land relationship. Knowledge of historical geography is an indispensable component of the position in Secondary school history education and also very significant in the textbooks of history . In addition to the proportion of historical geographical knowledge gradually increase in college entrance examination recent years, which makes the teaching of historical geography knowledge more and more important in Secondary school history education.To further improve the quality of secondary school history education, this paper attempts to explore from the perspective of historical geography knowledge and the purpose of enhancing the quality of history teaching in secondary schools, which is divided into five parts : The first part is the introduction of the reason to choose the topic of the text, purpose and significance of the study and research. Along with changes in the contents of the secondary school curriculum the knowledge of historical geography education should be strengthened. The second part is about the grooming in history of secondary materials (the seventh grade, "Chinese History") related to the historical geography knowledge, the teaching this part will be more accurate. The third part analyze the role of the historical geography knowledge in the history teaching in secondary schools ,which helps the teachers in teaching , but which also give the teachers of history higher demands . History teachers not only grasp the history and secondary historical geography knowledge , but also have the higher skills in teaching; For students, attention and learning the historical geography knowledge can help students obtain the space concepts, the accurate knowledge of history and geography , but also incentive the interest in learning history, enhance learning efficiency, integrate thinking and problem-solving skills, the cultivation of humanistic quality and develop vision ,which have great significance. The fourth part is about how to teach the historical geography knowledge in middle school history, from the emphasis on man-land relationship, grasping the concept of the history of geographical, historical map as the breakthrough point, attention to geopolitical factors, the mobilization of student enthusiasm, enhancing knowledge of history and geography exercises training , leading students to visit sites such as history and geography on aspects, which give the middle school history teachers some suggestion .Finally, the "Western Regions Han Tong and Silk Road" is regarded as an example to analysis the effective use of the Historical geography knowledge in teaching middle school history . Discussing the historical geography knowledge and the way in learning knowledge of historical geography and the effective use and so on, teaching the history (the history of geographical knowledge) from the point of view close to student life, has a positive impact on the overall quality of students and the ability, which greatly may raise the quality of teaching and learning in middle school history.
