According to the Ministry of Education statistics in 2006, the total number of teachers and staff in our country reached 16,520,000. The number of full-time faculty in primary and secondary education was 11,299,700. Our nation values highly the training and continuing education of teachers, which will directly affect the future of our nation and hundreds of millions of students in their future life and work.Scientific progress and the explosive development of information have brought more and more challenges to K-12 teachers. In this case, the teachers not only need to alter the teaching concept, but also to learn new teaching methods and use new teaching tools. However, the training of K-12 teacher has lagged behind the demand for teacher professional development. The fact is that the outdated training program was still employed to in K-12 teacher training without noticing the new problems and demanding. In this regard, the thesis will conduct a research on the following aspects:First of all, the new problems concerning K-12 teacher training are pointed out. Furthermore, I put forward that we should meet the new demanding by using design-based research in the training program for K-12 teachers.Secondly, the analysis of literature review of teacher professional development and K-12 teacher training is carried out. I conduct an analysis of the the environment of K-12 teacher training, the development of instructional design and design-based research to deal with the necessity of design-based research methods in K-12 teacher's training.Thirdly, based on the analysis of some current typical design-based research model, I construct a design research model for K-12 teacher training program, and give a detailed explanation of every stage of it.Fourthly, through the practice of the program HYCET, I make a specific analysis that how to put the design study model into practice. In the HYCET Program, training team, me included, implemented, analyzed, evalated and re-designed the training in strict accordance with the procedures of the model.Finally, the study summed up the achievements and contributions and put forward the problems in the study and direction for further research. Moreover, I make some suggestions for the development of K-12 teacher training.
