In 21st century, interdisciplinary has become the dominant paradigm of the technology development and subject innovation. Interdisciplinary development and innovation has become the most powerful weapon to solve the global problems. Nations of the world have made systems and policies to promote the interdisciplinary research. The universities in developed countries such as the United States, Japan and so on, have done a lot of exploration and reform. Especially the interdisciplinary organizations in the first-class research universities, did a lot of pioneering research work and made remarkable achievements.Research universities are the main force of China's higher education and knowledge innovation, and they undertake the responsibility of cultivating the high-quality comprehensive talents, creating high-level research results and promoting social progress and development. Most of our existing interdisciplinary organizations in the research universities are established on the basis of the original disciplines and faculties, so there still are many difficulties and obstacles in the process of the organization and operation. First, the paper analyses the development history and the management situation of our existing interdisciplinary organizations in the research universities, and sums up the most prominent issues. Second, this paper starts case studies on MIT, Tokyo University, Technical University of Munich, by analyzing the policy and institutional environment and researching the structure and patterns, the platform constructing and the motivation system of the interdisciplinary organizations, and then gets the relevant inspiration. At last, on the foundation of the problem analysis and the inspirations induced from the case study, the author proposes countermeasures to improve the operations management of the interdisciplinary organizations in china's research universities, such as structuring a variety of patterns of interdisciplinary organizations and establishing relatively comprehensive incentive systems.
