Secondary vocational education, making up half of secondary school education, is an important part of national education. It shoulders the heavy responsibilities for providing efficient laborers for economic development, plays an important role in improving nation's labor qualities and reducing the pressure upon the job market, and also has a positive effect on building a harmonious society.Especially in recent years, with the sustained and steady development of economy and the continuous adjustment of economic structure, only labourers with more knowledge, higher ability and quality can meet the needs of the society. Then, the reform and innovation of teaching models have become the key elements for the development of secondary vocational education. Therefore, it is necessary to grasp the fundamental laws of secondary vocational education and characteristics of the times, to change the out-of-date educational ideas, and adopt appropriate teaching models and methods to efficiently improve teaching quality in order to fully develop secondary vocational education.This thesis maintains that to implement "Project Approach" in the teaching of professional skills in secondary vocational schools is a practicable means of training modern technology workers. The Project Approach not only enables students to do the simulation exercises in the schools, but also enhance their professional quality and comprehensive ability, and especially the key ability they need in the future work.First, the "Project Approach" is introduced from the aspects of its origin, theoretical foundations, basic characteristics, basic contents, and relevant researches home and abroad. Second, the differences between the Project Approach and traditional teaching methods and its advantages are analyzed, and several important issues in the process of implementing the Project Approach are put forward. Third, according to the trying applications of the "Project Approach" in the No.2 Secondary Vocational School, the future obstacles and challenges implementing the Project Approach in secondary vocational schools are summarized and countermeasures are also introduced.
