Listening teaching occupies an extremely important position in junior middle school. To strengthen listening teaching can help to improve students'English communication skills and English comprehensive level. There is a certain gap between rural and urban on the level of English teaching, especially in English listening teaching. It has seriously affected the improvement of English listening teaching in rural area because of the lack of the teaching staff, equipments and resources.Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools brings unrivalled opportunities for the primary and middle schools in rural China. In junior middle school, the third mode of Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools supplies modern hardware and software resources for English listening teaching. It meets the needs of quality teaching resources on English listening teaching in rural schools to a certain extent and offers conditions for narrowing the gap between urban and rural education and improving the quality and level of education in rural areas.In this study, with the guidance of modern educational theories, based on the hardware and software resources of the third mode of Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools, we discussed the teaching strategies on how to improve the standard of English listening teaching in junior middle school in rural area, and also took the model into practice.This research mainly includes theoretical exploration, status survey and teaching practice. On theoretical exploration, we reviewed the current research of English listening teaching and understood the distribution and related research in the research field. And we also analyzed the contribution and the shortcomings of existing research. We defined the concepts of the teaching strategies, Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools and the research on the junior English listening teaching strategies based on Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools which related to this study. We analyzed the theoretical basis of English listening and got some inspiration. On status survey, through questionnaires, field trips and lectures, interviewing with teachers, etc , we got a more comprehensive understanding of junior English listening teaching based on Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools in Anyang. And we also made summarize and thoughts on it. On teaching practice, starting from discussing the basis and method of teaching strategies, we made some initial ideas of junior English listening teaching strategies based on Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools. Then we chose two classes of Grade Seven in a junior school in Linzhou, Anyang as experimental class and control class to research. And we also made the analysis and reflection through the application of teaching practice. At last, through effective analysis of teaching practice and students'feedback after teaching, we made recommendations for improving the strategies.English listening teaching is an organic part of English teaching. Seen from the overall perspective, the structure of junior English teaching strategies design for listening based on Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools mainly includes teaching aims, learner, the teacher's personal capacities and the conditions of the third mode. In the teaching of the microcosmic aspects, it mainly includes the selection of English listening materials, creating English language environment, media selection, the preparation of presenting aural materials, presenting aural material, student-teacher and student-student interaction and evaluation strategies.Analyzing from the existing research, to combine Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools with China's rural grassroots junior school English listening teaching research are not exist currently. With the guidance of related theories, through practice in teaching the author had a positive attempt, to explore English listening teaching strategies of junior schools in rural areas and promote English teaching theories and teaching practice. To make a reference for integrating Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools with Specific subject teaching. From the results of the study, on one hand, junior English teaching strategies design for listening based on Modern Distance Education Project in Rural Primary and Middle Schools had a significant effect on students'English listening. On the other hand, it also had significantly accelerated the students'interests in English learning.
