With the propulsion of the new elementary and secondary education reform, the'Senior Secondary Chinese Curriculum Standards (Experimental Version)'was issued in 2003,'Elective Curriculum's Setting' made the spotlight of the new standards, under the influence,the writing in elective textbooks been the focus of all the Chinese teachers, Chinese education researchers, and so on. With the guider of "Five Series", some textbook shows the high quality lever on textbook edit and write, for the presses combined the local resources with subject requirements, the'Appreciation of Foreign Novels', which was published by people education press, is one of the representative. The book, as one pattern of "Novel and Play"——one of the five series, was passed the audit of "The National Authorized Committee Of Elementary And Secondary School Textbook" in 2005, and put to use in the same year.This thesis took'Appreciation of Foreign Novels'as the object of the study, combined the methods of theories study with comparative analysis, and tried to point out the salient efficiency and the existed deficiency. The mainly purpose of this doing is to improve and perfect the textbook of Chinese elective course, to make textbook play a more useful and effective role by the use of teachers and students, as well.The main thesis of five main parts:The first part of this paper make a introduction of research background, including the process of the curriculum reform, some research in elective textbook, then the part show a a capsule description of the study's object significance and the methods.The second part fart summed up the features of 'Appreciation of Foreign Novels' in three fields: Development of Social Diversity,the history of foreign novel edited into Chinese textbook,how the curriculum standard show its attitude about foreign novels.The third part is about some ideas or opinions on Chinese education and the edit and write on textbook, which extract and purify by the editor of "novels appreciate the foreign counties" Cao Wenxuan, the thesis author analyzed and summarized the Structure Characteristic of textbooks at the same timeThe forth part is devoted to concluding the value of "novels appreciate the foreign counties" in four aspect:the structure breaking abut the absorption of foreign novel to Chinese textbook, the Pursuit of Scientific and suitable the teaching materials graded framework,the renewing and development on the theory of the novel to Chinese teaching in middle school and the Inheritance and Development on traditional manner——'reading with writing'.The last part is the rethinking of'Appreciation of Foreign Novels'. By reexamination of the novel theory,the graded framework,the setting of curriculum goals which intents in the book, thus, some questions were paid attention, and put forward some proposals on these questions, finally.
