Infiltrating STS——"Science,Technology and Society" into teaching activities and materials is one of the most clear themes in the programs of international science education reform in recent years. STS education reflected in the physics textbooks for junior high school is not only the basic requirement in new curriculum reform, but also the needs of social development. Infiltrating STS as a separate part into teaching materials is a viable and effective way for popularizing STS education. The author tried to do some research on the STS part of physics textbooks for junior high school.This dissertation is composed of five chapters: The first chapter introduced the significance and ideas of this dissertation; The second chapter is mainly about the emerge and development of STS and STS education,then discussed the basic concept of STS education; The third chapter is the comparison of standards of STS content in junior high school between China and America, and compared the structure and choices of STS theme in China with that in America,including the analysis and positioning of Sino-US understanding on STS; In chapter four, the author made a research on the STS part of Chinese physics textbooks, including the investigation in students and analysis of the specific content, concluded that the theme choices of STS part in the Chinese textbooks focus on environmental resources and presents the questions of lost of personality. The last chapter is the conclusion, combining the contents of the first three chapters with Chinese education conditions, provided some suggestion about the selection and presentation of STS content, hoping to make some reference for popularizing STS education in junior high school.
