Digital games are more and more popular today, and its potential educational value has also been of concern to many educators, and they have started the study of digital games in order to enable learners to achieve learning objectives in the game. According to constructivist theory and the situational theory, the creation of appropriate contexts can enhance the learner's self-construction capability, while the game-based learning environment not only emphasizes the idea of learning in the game, inherits the advantages of the digital game and avoids all kinds of disadvantages not suitable for education and becomes the best choice for learners to learn. In addition, the teaching reform emphasizes on learner-centered, and more concerns about the learner's self-construction capability, so we can see the research of game-based learning environment for learner's self-construction has important theoretical and practical application value.This paper proposes on the research of game-based learning environment which is for learner's self-construction, and it is intended to create a kind of context similar to the reality to support the activities. To achieve this purpose, the following study has been conducted.Firstly this paper has defined the concept of self-construction and the game-based learning environment, summarized the current related research on self-construction and the game-based learning environment, and analyzed the self-regulated learning theory, constructivist theory, situated cognition theory and game design theory which support learner's self-construction.Second, this paper has extracted the elements of the game-based learning environment through theoretical synthesis, and starting from the case studies it put forward the instructional design framework of game-based learning environment for the learner's self-construction, and it has an analysis of learning objectives, learner analysis and design of game-based learning environment based on this framework.Thirdly, a software design of game-based learning environment for learner's self-construction has been conducted, it used the method of object-oriented software design to analyze the game-based learning environment to promote the learner's self-construction, and uml modeling language was used in all phases of software design and built appropriate software models, and designed a software model of game-based learning environment for learner's self-construction.Finally, the study has realized an instance of the development of the game-based learning environment for learner's self-construction. It used Visual studio2008 as the development platform and C# as the development language, based on the instructional design and the software design, chose a simple physics experiment as an example, using the modular thinking developed a game-based learning environment for learner's self-construction.In the past, some game-based learning environment study focused on the game play, while others focus on the learning, which are difficult to achieve the effective integration of learning and playfulness, and they even haven't considered the design of the situation standing in learner's position. This study is guided by the game-based learning design thought, and it has a system design about game-based learning environment for learners'self-construction, thus it forms a learning links about the learner's self-exploration, interaction between learners, learning resources'construction, feedback and learning evaluation to support learners'self-construction. At the same time, the study realizes natural integration of the gaming and learning.This study is oriented to promotion of the learner's self-construction, and according to the idea of the game-based learning, it has a systematic instructional design to the game-based learning environment, uses object-oriented approach to the game-based learning environment for software design, and developed game-oriented learning environment for learner's self-construction. Its innovation lies on the system design of using game-based learning design method, and formed learner's self-exploration,interaction between learners, learning resources construction and teaching evaluation and a series of learning links. At the same time, the game-oriented learning environment for learner's self-construction can provide timely feedback for learners, thereby promoting learner's self-construction.
