Chinese curriculum standard is an index in Chinese instruction, which is considered a principle in editing and assessing teaching materials; a source in organizing tests; and a base on the management and evaluation by government. A new Chinese curriculum standard had been performing in 2005 before a pilot execution starting at September in 2001 in 38 experimental places in China. Today, the progress appears in performing the new Chinese curriculum standard, and more issues are discovered. In the present study, the actuality of performing Chinese curriculum standard in full-time compulsory education is investigated in main areas in Chongqing city, by using questionnaire, interview and observation in classroom. Based on the investigation of the elementary school teachers, it explored the current problems of the curriculum standard of Chinese education deeply and carefully. The data showed:1) The degree in understanding the new Chinese curriculum standard are high in primary Chinese teachers in main areas in Chongqing; training and learning themselves are the main ways to acquire the new Chinese curriculum standard for teachers.2) There are significant differences on the understanding of the curriculum resources for teachers. They rely heavily on teaching materials and appendix, and trend to teach students strictly based on the teaching materials and appendix. The main way to edit teaching materials for teachers is the web of internet. Much of teachers reported that they had no enough time on editing teaching materials. However, there were significant differences on editing teaching materials in different schools'teachers.3) In the performing of the teaching, much of teachers pay more attention on the achievement of the 3-dimensions of goals in classroom. However, there were significant differences on the acquirement of staged goals. The main methods in teaching Chinese for teachers are instructing,questioning, discussing and discovering. In the assessments of the teaching, teachers reported the ability on teaching is most important for a teacher, and the attitude of learning is most critical for a student. Teachers are likely to use literary tests to evaluate the students.4) When the new Chinese curriculum standard is proceeding, much of teachers reported that the views of teaching are significantly changed for teachers and the activity in learning is strengthened for students. The customs of traditional modes in Chinese teaching and less chance to learning and observing in different class are the main obstacle for teachers to obtain the goals of the new Chinese curriculum standard. Moreover, the central issue of the theoretical system in the new Chinese curriculum is the big gap between the teaching and the tests. According to the results, several suggestions are proposed as below:1) paying more attention on teachers'training to help them update their views on teaching and their knowledge;2) encouraging teachers in editing teaching materials, and enlarging the ways to edit teaching materials;3) reforming and innovating the management system;4) using the new methods in class teaching, especially paying more attention on merging CAD with the traditional teaching methods;5) thinking much of the meaning of assessment in Chinese teaching, especially meeting with recognition on the measurement as the method of assessment.
