TCFL textbooks are an important carrier of Chinese culture and knowledge, arethe main resort of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. Chinese vocabularyteaching is known as a difficult point in TCFL, as a result, English glossay of TCFLtextbooks becomes a very important key to the difficult point.As an international language, English is widely used in TCFL textbooks for newwords annotation, which overall improve the quality and efficiency of teaching.However, there are still many problems that bring a lot of negative impacts. Based onpredecessors’ research, with English-speaking foreign students as the main researchobject, this article probes in to those problems by classify them. Through analyzingstudents’ words acquisition errors, pointing out the defects of English glossaies ofTCFL textbooks, this article is designed to give reasonable suggestions and teachingcountermeasures.
