| Simultaneous interpreting involves complicated intercultural communication, in which language and culture plays an important role. Language and cultural factors in Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting affect its quality. Language and cultural factors in this research refer to structural differences of language and culture-loaded words, which affect simultaneous interpreting on various levels. If interpreters fail to deal with language and cultural factors properly, or could not differentiate Chinese and English language and culture, some problems such as omission, improper pause and pragmatic errors would appear. To solve the problems in the practice, interpreters should take some rational and effective strategies, such as improving bilingual language proficiency, developing intercultural awareness, and using interpretive skills and inductive omission skills. Language and cultural factors are one of the difficult parts to deal with in the Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting. If these problems are well solved, the quality of SI can be improved, and the interpretation well accomplished. Hence a successful intercultural communication eventually achieved. |
