Design Of Short - Term Chinese Teaching For Thai Adults

With the growing political status and comprehensive national strength of China in recent years, the international community is paying more attention to China. Due to the rapid growth of Chinese economy, more and more people worldwide have become interested in Chinese language and culture,starting the trend of learning Chinese. In this context, the author, as an intern of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages, came to Laem Chabang Vocational and Technical College of Chonburi Province, Thailand. There the author taught Chinese to beginner adult teachers for a short term. There is no request on teaching objectives and teaching contents and no assigned teaching material, for it’s the first time for this school to open short-term adult courses. Besides, predecessors did little research analyses on the short-term Chinese teaching class for beginner adult teachers in Thailand. Therefore, the author’s main task is to analyze learners’specific characteristics so as to work out a set of targeted teaching design.This paper takes Thailand beginner adults as teaching research objects. Based on the author’s three-month-long practical teaching experience, this paper summarizes the teaching contents and objectives by analyzing learners’ self characteristics, teaching demands, learning motivation, their Chinese level and so on. At last, the author redacts Chinese teaching materials and formulates teaching strategies. By combining theoretical analysis with teaching practice, this paper systematically and completely expounds the teaching design on short-term courses for Thai adult beginners.This paper elaborates the macro research and analysis on the entire short-term teaching process for Thai adult beginners. The paper aims at providing some new ideas and practical guide for future researches on short-term Chinese teaching for Thai adult beginners as well as giving an inspiration to relevant textbook compilers.
