In recent years, it is on the initial stage that our research and study on Chinese chunks, and need further investigation. In the first, the article looks back on the development of the theory of chunks, and gives a conclusion of chunks in teaching language. Combined with the actual situation of Chinese and research achievements, we have a new definition and classification of chunks. The Chinese chunks is classified into two types: fixed structures and fill-in structures. Considering TCFL, we further classify it into seven more detailed types: idioms, parentheses, framed-phrase chunks, sentence patterns and related words.《Chinese Course》(primary) is commonly recognized in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in China. The article analyzed and summarized all the chunks in this book and found its shortcomings and give some reasonable suggestions. We suggest that teaching material writers should emphasize on chunks, and improve the interesting of teaching materials; language teachers should strengthen the awareness of chunks, and summarize and classify more chunks which are appeared in teaching materials. At the same time, teachers also need to make different teaching plans to different students.
