Chinese culture-specific terms refer to words or phrases with Chinese characteristics, also called culture-loaded words, which often appear in lectures of national leaders. These words are rich in Chinese culture. However, there are great many differences between Chinese and English in terms of culture and ways of thinking, along with high political sensitivity, which bring a big challenge for interpreters. Cultural translation lay emphasis on the correct express of culture connotation, so under the guidance of cultural translation theory, the author collected original speeches given by president Xi Jin ping with official interpretation of Chinese culture-specific terms. In this paper, three strategies are given, i.e., transliteration, literal translation and free translation, in the hope of better interpreting the culture information from the original text. Transliteration can make people feel the original favor of the text; literal translation can hold the language style and keep the speakers’ spirit; Free translation are not confined in the form of original speakers’ language, and it can also lower the difficulty of understanding; Sometimes, we need to combine two of the strategies according to specific condition. In a word, flexibly using these interpreting strategies can help us reach the goal of cultural transformation and communication.
