The process of extraction and purification on gardenia yellow and geniposide is studied in detail in this paper. There include a great deal of gardenia yellow, geniposide, carbohydrate, phenols and so on in Gardenia jasminoides Eills extracted solution. We separate gardenia yellow and geniposide preparatory using two phase solvent extraction. Gardenia yellow enrich in organic phase mainly and primary ingredient in water phase is geniposide. High color number gardenia yellow pigment can be getted through solvend fallout whose color number is more than500and OD value is less than0.2. Leaving water phase enrich a great deal of geniposide, purified by macropore polymeric adsorbent, can reach95%by pure using standard curve.This paper developed a new method to extract and purify gardenia yellow and geniposide. Compared with traditional method we investigate the solvent, solid to liquid ratio, time, circumstance temperature and so on which are impact on the extracted ratio and the selective of gardenia yellow and geniposide. We also seeing about the kind of extractant, the volume of extractant, extract progression, the degree of concentration which are influence the quality of gardenia yellow. Affecting factor are investigated also on the purification of geniposide using macropore polymeric adsorbent.Solvend fallout is a better method to purify gardenia yellow compared with traditional way which is need macropore polymeric adsorbent. This method have a simple process and a short production circle. Eliminating gardenia yellow pigment form extracted solution can be effectively predigest the process of separation and purification of geniposide. It also can be shorten the volume of column chromatography and the quantity of macropore polymeric adsorbent and make it reclamation simplified in the same time enhance the pure of geniposide effectively. Two phase solvent extraction combined with macropore polymeric adsorbent to purify Gardenia jasminoides Eills active ingredients is a mature, effective and have commercial valued applied technology.
