With the rapid development of food processing industry, the competition is increasing, and food processing enterprises paid more and more attention to the concept of marketing. To enhance the competency of marketing personnel is very important to raise the quality of food processing enterprises and enhance the competitiveness.This study take the method of frequency analysis by marketing staff recruitment advertisement, telephone interviews and expert opinion to extract the competency elements of marketing staff in food processing industry, based on the research of competency. Then formed the competency questionnaire. With statistical software SPSS16.0 extract the empirical elements of competency ,analysis , verification and discuss the competency gaps between high performance and general performance marketing personnel. And then determine the weight of each competency by the competency gaps, form the competency model. The research results show that the competency model of marketing personnel in food industry includes 5 categories, 22 items. The weight of ethnic self-competency model is maximum. Lastly, apply the competency to the training of marketing personnel in food processing industry.The innovation of this study is to establish the competency model of marketing staff in food processing industry, based on the empirical study. Thus extend the research scope and content of competency.
