International Electric Power EPC Project Risk Management Research

In Nov.2001, China was accepted formally by the World Trade Organization (WTO), and this accelerated the Chinese commerce and investment. Chinese electric power construction companies are actively responding to the Government's call of "export-oriented" strategy. More and more national power engineering enterprises go aboard into the overseas market and actively take part in the competition of international electric power markets, and put it over in some developing countries. China has the advantage in the field of design and purchase of the International electric power EPC project. At the same time, there are many uncertain factors exist in various aspects of international power EPC engineering projects, especially up to the big difference of foreign countries'construction, and the risk management is relative weak due to the existing disadvantages in our national power projects, All these make the huge risk and challenge to our electrical enterprises during the international electrical project carrying out.The paper is based upon the theory, practicality, innovation, compensating, practical principles etc. Following the guidance of the relevant national policy and the international common convention and the management theories, it presents a theoretical framework with a view to circumvent the relevant risks from the international EPC power projects by anglicizing the concrete real case studies. Meantime, the paper point to generalize the risks, discussing the characters, representation and management methods. In addition, this study analyses the master risks, find the pivotal risk genes, puts forward some advises for circumventing the relevant risks of political,social,economical,environmental from the international EPC power projects contract projects with the literature, AHP, comparative and the other research methods linking to the actual instance.The thesis applies the compact writing and the maneuverability analysis methods, to get the theories guiding the practice. To provide one method of the risk management during the concrete international project, These ideas and methods are likely to give some rational theories to the enterprises, which are engaged in the international power EPC engineering projects.
