The emergence of modern information technology and e-business plays an important role to economic globalization, and has been keeping improving the logistics industry. In the middle of 90's of the twentieth century, the concept of logistics was introduced to China, and got recognition form government, scholars and enterprises. During these years, the third-party logistics (TPL) industry has developed to a certain degree. According to China's commitments to the WTO, China will open the logistics industry to other countries in 2005, a lot of foreign logistics giants will come to China to share the cake, and it will be a threat to Chinese domestic logistics enterprises. This paper firstly reviews the phylogeny of the logistics industry of China and other countries, then analyzes the macro environment of domestic logistics, including the demand and supply. And then analyzes the TPL industry structure with the five-power-model, and analyzes Chinese TPL suppliers'strength and weakness, and the opportunities and threats they are facing. Following, analyzes the inner and external value-chain of the TPL suppliers. Makes out some differential strategies which are suitable to domestic TPL suppliers. In the end, validates this idea with a case.
