A Research On The Non-Tarrif Barriers To China's T&C Products

Textile quotas have been cancelled since January 1, 2005 and textile trade has entered into "post-quota" period. It seems that the cancellation of the quotas and the weaker tariff would create good external environment for China's textile export. However, more and more complicated barriers are still in the way. Early last year, the USA and EU claimed the special safeguard on the textile importing from China, so China's textile companies have to extend the quotas on some products. In fact, not only the special safeguard, but also TBT, SA8000 and standard of origin are all the non-tariff barriers imposing on China's textile companies.As the industry to earn the largest foreign currencies for China, textile industry has played an important role in solving the employment and pushing forward the industry structure improvement. Therefore, it's of great significance to research on the industry's development and find some useful solutions to the non-tariff barrier.This thesis consists of four parts. The first part of this thesis introduces the form, characteristics and the tendency of the non-tariff barriers as well as the influence it brings to the world economy, the importing countries and exporting countries.The second part has a full research in China's textile trade and a detailed analysis in its importance to the country, as well as the characteristics of the industry's development and its difficulties to development further from the domestic and abroad.The third part is the core part. It analyzes the characteristics and the impact of the five non-tariff barriers.In the fourth part, we have some suggestions for the government, industry association and textile companies, to cope with the non-tariff barriers...
