A Study On The Relationship Of Technology Capability, Strategy Innovation And Performance Innovation

In the knowledge economy age, innovation is becoming the propeller of sustainable development of enterprise. How to input innovation into business strategy and supervise the practice are the mainly problem nowadays. Most of the researches in and abroad focus on influence factor and evaluation index system of technology capability (TI), innovation strategy (IS) and innovation performance (IP), few studies cared about the multi-influence among the three variables. In addition, in the past literatures, IP is always looked as the result of numbers of factors, few literatures care about the pay back effect, however, in practice, the performance usually lead to the changes of strategy decision, so much as the changing of administrative staff.In order to solve the predicament of strategy selection in the management practices, the paper proposes a Structural Equation Model (SEM) which consists of TC, SI and PI, and empirically tests the model with data from a questionnaire. 326 technology directors and middle and high-level managers participate in the questionnaire. Statistic tools such as SPSS and LISERL are used to analyze data. Hypothesizes are proved by the paths relationship test in the model.The conclusion shows that TC has a significant positive effect on SI. Higher TC of enterprise tends to adopt internal innovation, and the lower one tends to adopt external innovation. TC has a significant positive effect on PI. SI has a significant positive effect on PI, and the predicament of performance has an inverted effect on SI, that is when performance drops into predicament, the enterprise tends to adopt mutation innovation and external innovation.Some suggestions are given such as enlarging the cooperation among enterprise, university and institute, optimizing the learning way of technology, strengthening the re-innovation on the basis of fetching and absorbing, combing the self-research and self-innovation together, emphasizing the improvement of the management and culture innovation, meanwhile, when in the trouble of performance, enterprise should lean how to select the origin and degree of innovation flexibly and smoothly.
