The Study Of Status Quo, Causes And Regional Diffences Of Chinese FDI

With the implement of "opening up" policy, the foreign direct investment (FDI) of Chinese enterprises has been wanning up. Particularly, after china entering WTO in 2001, Chinese enterprises are increasing their investment aboard. In recent years, they have made great breakthrough in terms of the amount and the means of FDI with the increasing number of big FDI projects. At the same time, the individual regions of china are also showing their own characteristics in the field of FDI.Firstly, I recollect and generalize the theories of FDI which are mainly derived from the classic theories of multinational corporation and international trade. The FDI theories include the FDI theories for developed and developing countries. And the main stream of them is the western classic FDI theories, with the flourishing newly made FDI theories.Then I brief the history and status quo of Chinese FDI as a whole, systematically presenting the outline of Chinese FDI and pointing out the existing problems. On the basis of the former research, in the thesis, I also probe the investment environment, causes and policies which are relevant to Chinese FDI.With full appreciation of Chinese FDI, I focus on finding out the main differences of FDI among Chinese individual regions and the factors which give rise to the differences. In this thesis, I also introduce some variables, including GDP per capital, foreign trade amount, productivity and so on, which are confirmed to determine the FDI of a country by some economists and choose several indicators according to the mentioned variables. Then I make out the major factors which are affecting the FDI of Chinese individual provinces by making quantitative analysis with those indicators. Following the some rules, I do a comparative analysis of the FDI of Chinese eastern, middle and western regions and find out the main factors which bring about the different FDI levels among the three regions.At last, according to the results of my research, I propose some suggestions to improve Chinese FDI. On one side, Chinese government should provide strong support to Chinese enterprises by the means of making favorable polices and regulations, offer good micromanagement and services. On the other side, the enterprises which plan to take part in the international competition overseas should foster the conception of global competition; upgrade management structure and make reasonable human resource strategy to improve their global competence.
