Recently China is proposing the Great Cultural Industry Development strategy, which calls for the combination of tourism industry with other culture industries, especially those in the core layer. Only by this means, the increasing individual and diversified tourist needs can be met. As a dynamic media, film and TV industry is becoming an unneglectable force in promoting tourism development in the area of marketing, imaging and formulating new tourist attraction. Under this background, it's very important to have a rational understanding on the impacts that film and TV play on tourism if we want to make it into full play. As related domestic study is far from mature, this paper focus on this topic, aiming at summarizing some internal mechanisms and providing some insights for the future study.Three out of five chapters compose the main body of this paper:The second chapter is observing the impacts on tourists in the angle of their psychology and behavior. After identifying the ways in which film and TV generate impacts, this paper classifies film tourist into three categories according to the driven force for their involving film-tourism. Then in-depth analysis on the most representative type is made with regard to their motives and attributes of behavior.With the similar structure, the third chapter studies impacts on tourist location. Impact from film and TV on location images is especially noteworthy, so this is where this chapter starts. Then the comprehensive impacts in areas of economics, social-culture and environment are examined on the basis of identifying film and TV as "hallmark event". At last attitudes and behavior of related stake-holders in the location are studied.After careful studying the impacts on both object (tourist) and subject (location), the fourth chapter propose a model to explain the impacts film and TV having on tourism, following by a matrix composed of relative magnitude and time of lasting to measure the scale of impacts, and influential factors performance related to the four types are given a grade each. At last suggestions are made on how to take advantage of the positive role that film and TV playing in promoting tourism development.
