Study On The Sustainalbe Tourism Development Of The World Heritage Site Of Macao

The World Heritage is a kind of approval and highest honor accorded by internationalcommunity to national culture, historical sites and natural resources scenery of acertain country. Since 1985, when our country officially signed the "Convention forthe Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage" as a contracting party, 37properties in our country have been ranked among "World Heritage List", Including26 cultural properties, 7 natural properties, 4 cultural and natural properties and 4intangible cultural heritage. Therefore, China is the third biggest heritage country inthe world, only second to Italy and Spain.Defining the Macao World Heritage Site as the research object, basing on an overviewof domestic and international issues related to research, the paper summarize thetourism resources in Macao, analyze the development of tourism strengths,weaknesses, opportunities, challenges, and try to dig out the more profoundconnotation and to reshape the image of Macao, so that can give referential views forthe sustainable development of Macao tourism.In addition to the introduction, this article is divided into four parts:The first part: The main review for the concept of World Heritage and World Heritagetourism research, including the type of World Heritage, research status of WorldHeritage tourism and Macao World Heritage tourism.The second part: Summarizing the tourism of World Heritage Site Macao. Classifyingand introducing Macao's tourism resources mainly based on the principle ofclassification, investigation and evaluation of tourism resources. Summarizingdevelopment of Macao's tourism.The third part: Analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges ofMacao's tourism development according to the SWOT analysis and date provided byMacao Statistics and Census Service and other organizations.The last part: Providing recommendations for sustainable tourism development of World Heritage Site Macao. Giving new meanings such as "Cultural heritage capital", "luxury travel capital", "exhibition and incentive travel capital" to Macao's tourism. Simultaneously, Proposing tourism development base on Word Heritage protection such as institutional, legal, financial and other means so that achieve sustainable tourism development.
