| Urban traffic leads the development of the entire city function distribution and is taking a big part in people's living condition and daily commute. As the pace of the modern urbanization continues to accelerate, urban traffic congestion is increasing with alarming rapidity and has become a worldwide problem. It is particularly linked with motorization and the diffusion of the automobile, which has increased the demand for transport infrastructures. Urban traffic congestion brings negative impacts on different aspects of ppl's life and society. Among the most notable urban transport problems are:loss of economic efficiency, environmental impacts and energy consumption, accidents and safety, land comsumption, and difficulties for pedestrians. As Chinese economy is thriving rapidly, traffic congestion in urban areas is often the outcome of successful urban economic development, employment and housing. Urban traffic congestion must be understood in the wider context of city dynamics and agglomeration benefits. This report on which this summary is based aims to provide policy makers with stratetic vision, conceptual framworks and guidances.
