Modern electric power system is developing to the larger scale and Extra-High Voltage from 21st century, which has been an inevitable trend. Along with the reform and the expansion of the power system in ShanDong Province, 500 kV grids which has been linked to loop net is the backbone of the ShanDong electric network, which leads to higher demand on reliability, accuracy, real time and transmission performance of fault recorders. The obsolete fault-recording devices and the lagging data transmission technique can not keep up with the renewal of power system.According to the current equipment in the ShanDong Electric EHV Corp. and its operating state, a scheme modifying fault recorders used in 500kV EHV network is introduced in this thesis. A new fault recording information-integrated processing system adopting distributed architecture model is built in this scheme, by updating the old fault recorders, combing optical network data transmission technique, CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and MPLS/VPN technique into it. This system can implement the long-distance, centralized management of fault recorders, processing the fault data all together. The reliability of data transmission and the analyzing speed are improved greatly. The real time fault data and diagnostic results can also been provided to another event processing system. If they are used in the 16 500kV substations dominated by ShanDong Electric EHV Corp. in the future, they must decrease the economic loss on account of fault occurring, and contribute to the safe, steady running of the electric network.
