With the development of Information Technology and the tendency of economyglobalization, market competition that encountered the modem manufacturing enterprisesis becoming sharper and sharper. So it is necessary for enterprise to carry out enterpriseinformation strategy. Manufacturing execution system technology has become a keyelement for enterprise information construction. MES is a workshop-oriented managementsystem in manufacturing enterprise which organically integrates ERP with field equipmentcontrolling in workshop. Currently, manufacturing execution systems are widely used inthe aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, optoelectronic, pharmaceutical andpetrochemical industries, as well as other sectors.Based on analyzing discrete manufacturing industry's characteristic and researching actualcircumstance of enterprise, the business flow, materiel and data flow in manufacturingwork floor is investigated in this dissertation. The guideline of the system design is drawnup and system architecture based on mode integrated CS with BS is put forward. On theother hand, network architecture and system security design is also given out. On the basisof the system scheme design, system function demands are confirmed, data flow andfunction structure charts are drawed, database is designed and developed.MES is an information bridge between ERP system and manufacturing floor controlsystem and exchanges information with other information system. XML data file is used asinformation exchange medium in this paper. XML files are transmited between applicationsystems through FTP and XML schema is used to realize validation in order to ensure thecorrect updating of database information. Process information is got from Teamcenter bydatabase trigger and can be browsed with Teamcenter interface function. In this Way, therequirement of data exchange among MES, ERP, PDM systems is satisfied.In production process, enterprise needs to know the extent to which products meet qualityspecification. Statistical process control which is the primary analysis tool of qualityimprovement is applied in work floor quality management. Production process ismonitored through the control chart and diverse statistical analyses are made to determinewhether a process is operating consistently or not. By the management and analysis ofquality information obtained from work floor, lasting improvements in quality can beachieved to fulfill customer's requirement.Finally, a MES is developed and put into practice according to system design schemementioned above. By the application of PYOE MES, the workshop management level isimproved, production cost is reduced, and manufacture process is optimized. So theenterprise can suit the changing market in a more flexible and effective way than before.
