Suzhou Sustainable Use Of Water Resources

The water resources are not only the kind of humanity's livelihood natural resources, but also are all social development material base and strategic economic resources. In January, 1997, the United Nations pointed out in "World Water resources Quality synthetic evaluation Report": The water question will seriously restrict the economy and the social development of the whole world in 21st century. Proposed along with the sustainable development theory, how to enable the water resources to walk the sustainable development path, becomes the world attention topic.In order to use the water resources sustainably to support the sustainable development of economic society,this article takes the Suzhou of Jiangsu Province as an example,conducts the research on the sustainable use of water resources along the river.Firstly taken the sustainable development theory as the foundation, it describes some concepts of sustainable use of regional water resources,such as the connotation,research content,work way of thinking,object,principle and method. All these provide theoretic supports for appraisal of sustainable use of region water resources.Secondly it elaborates the elementary theory of appraisal on the water resources sustainable use,synthesisly discusses the method of target system establishment and the assessment method of water resources sustainable use appraisal.Thirdly,it discusses the theoretical basis,meanings of regional water resource sustainable utilization, and discusses the three phases of water resources utilization. In view of Suzhou's present situation and data source, it establishes the appraisal target system of water resources sustainable use level which composed by the target level, the criterion level and the index level, finally gets the standard of Suzhou's water resources sustainable use.Fourthly it puts out of the appraisal of using level of the water resources in Suzhou,pointes out its deficiency and proposes the corresponding counter一measure.
