On "the Third Way" Social Welfare Reform

Abstract: Since reform and opening-up for thirty years, China has fulfilled the high speed development of economy, and economy and international status have been significantly increased. However, their matching social constructions still lag behind. The social security system, the cornerstone of social construction, involves the vital interests of the people. We should prudently proceed to the reform in social security fields, which deepens the reform of economic system and serves an important strategic significance on constructing harmonious society."The third way"social welfare reform is a political change between social democracy and new conservatism democratic, which some western countries executed in order to improve the economic situation and alleviate social contradictions in the 1990s."The third way"reforms of states mostly belong to the western developed countries. They have higher social and economic development level and social maturity than China's. Therefore, their reforms have advanced warning and significance for China. And"the third way"welfare reform has almost been finished, from which we can clearly see its advantages and disadvantages. We should take the essence and discard the dross and take better advantage of it for China's social security system.The thesis is divided into four chapters, where Chapter One is an introduction and the rest Chapters are the main body.Chapter Two involves theories of"the third way"social welfare reform. It briefly introduces the background of"the third way"and main content, then analyzes and concludes some main points based on the reform of the welfare theories.Chapter Three involves practical difficulties of"the third way"social welfare reform. Firstly it introduces four countries'legal practice, and then analyzes the realistic dilemma encountered by the countries of"the third way".Chapter Four involves enlightenment of"the third way"welfare reform for China's social security system. First of all, it briefly introduces past and present situation, achievements and existing problems of China's social security system, and finally gives some suggestions from two aspects on reform principles and specific measures for China's social security system.
