To solve the contradiction between demand and supply of urban construction land, we must walk the road of urban land intensive use.The basic theory of urban land intensive use includes land rent and land price theory, land location theory, land reward theory, urban land use interaction theory, sustainable development theory and so on.The content system of the urban land intensive use study should included the connotation of urban land intensive use, basic theory, driving factors analysis, intensive use evaluation and so on. Urban land intensive use is in a particular situation and basis, taking the land reasonable use as a prerequisite, by some means to obtain the best comprehensive benefit of urban land. Urban land use driven mechanism can be divided into internal drive mechanism and the external drive mechanism. Evaluating urban land intensive use is a comprehensive assessment process on a range of urban land use situation, including the status of evaluation and potential assessment.Evaluating urban land intensive use through comprehensive evaluation method, a case study of Beibuwan Economic Region in Guangxi. The result shows that the urban land intensive use level is low which is used in low degree. And the potential of intensive use is middle.Using the Gray correlation analysis method to make an empirical research on driving factors.Obtaining the main driving factors which promote the urban land intensive use are the total cultivated land, the syntheses plot ratio, the area elasticity employees and so on. And formatting the "pressure - state - response" (P-S-R) model. Through the method of drawback factor diagnosis, obtained the urban land intensive use in this region is low. the major barriers are syntheses plot ratio,terra annual investment,and terra GDP.To increase the area of urban land intensive use level, the measures which are increasing investment, using the three-dimensional urban land, improving the land market mechanism, controlling the scale of the city reasonable should be adopt.
