Tourism development and tourism research in China has gone through about 30 years, but the research of foreign travel is only stay in the introduction of new tourism related theory and tourism teaching methods of foreign country with too little empirical research. The traditional three large international tourism regions are Western Europe, North America and East Asia, among which North America is the birthplace of international mass tourism. As to the North America, Canadian tourists'entering the US is the most typical and the most powerful surge tourist flow, including both border travel and over night travel. The research of Canadian tourists in US inbounds tourism and the geographical distribution after their entering have important implications for the development of China's tourism. Based on literature survey, cause analysis, event tourism analysis and geographic docking method, this paper studies the Canada-US border tourism development and regional docking, over night tourism development, crisis impact and over night geographical docking. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) Canada and the U.S. share a long border line, which is political peace, active border shopping activity and rich tourism resource, providing favorable conditions for Canada and US border tourism. It is for a long time that border tourism account most in Canada outbound total numbers. What's more, border tourism is always less affected by tourism crisis, and its tourist flow is mainly the provinces and states which have connected border area; in this 20 more years, the bilateral border tourism can also be divided into three stages as the overnight tourism, showing a three step down; Canadian border tourists travelling to US has slowed down and gradually become mature; the tourism crisis always manifest a "V" type on the departure curve, which means faster recovery from the crisis; as to the tourism flow joint, due to many borders, Ontario, the "leader" for bilateral border tourism, has strong tourism flow to US states, including the Great Lakes border states, and its land border neighbor, Minnesota.(2) Along with the development of Canadian economy and the increasing bilateral trade growth between US and Canada, Canadian outbound tourism gets rapid development. From 1986 to 2009. the Canadian outbound tourism (overnight) has a similar development stage as tourists (overnight) travelling to US; however, there is one year between them. Canadian outbound tourism can be divided into three stages in the 20 more years; from the origin point of view, travelers to US are mainly affected by two factors, which is economy and trade. During the 20 more years. GDP per capita and GNI per capita both grow more than 3 times averagely. which means more than 5% every year and provides a good economy base for residents'outbound travelling; at the mean time, there is a pull-push mode between Canada-US trade and tourism.(3) During these 20 years, lots of international tourism crisis occurred, which affects US inbound tourism in different degrees. Based tourism background trend line to sort out these events, some events changed the trend of tourism development in the United States, such as the 9.11 terrorist attacks, and some crisis is just an instant and over, such as the Asian financial crisis, due to different nature of each event, impact on Canadian tourists in US inbound tourism is absolutely different from the aspect of the crisis time length, visitors loss and loss rate; from the point view of year, Loss Angeles earthquake (1994),9/11 terrorist attacks and SARS affect much longer towards Canadian tourists than other crisis, the most serious crisis is Los Angeles Earthquake until now, which caused tremendous impact to Canadian tourist; the undergoing global financial tsunami led to 18% loss ratio, the top one comparing with other events; from the point view of every month, during the 170 moths, the undergoing global financial tsunami shows greatest damage capability, and lose more than 9/11 terrorist attacks and SARS, making Canadian tourist a great decline. Therefore, it is very important to have a peace enviromemnt for international tourism development.(4) Tourist flow from Canada is the largest international flow for US inbounds tourism in North America. Arrivals from Canada mainly travel to US states through Great Lakes, high speed railway around America and boundary line; Canadian tourists has a geographical distribution, which means the eastern Canadian tourists distribute in the eastern Great Lakes, the middle Canadian tourists in the nearby states and western tourists in western US. Because of sunshine preference, visitors from Canada can reach Florida, the southern part of US, through high-speed rail. This kind of distribution is influenced by spatial attenuating tendency, high speed railway, airline and high level tourism resources. This paper has following two innovations:①reveals the condition, development status and rules of the Canada-US border tourism, boundaries, which is political peace, has active border shopping, and owns rich tourism resources, could largely promote the development of border tourism, all of which can enlighten China border tourism between border provinces and neighboring countries;②based on O-D docking mode, provides the spatial distribution and cause annalysis of Canadian tourist flows in United States, and believes that tourism sites, distance, economy, sunshine play a significan role on the tourism flow between Canada and US.
