China has been pursuing the policy of opening to the outside world, the breadth and depth of which has currently received further expansion after joining the WTO. Under the circumstance of market-oriented economic, the insurance industry should develop more smoothly, which is an inevitable requirement for the sustainable, healthy and stable development in the national economy. Entering China's insurance market with great development potential has become one of the major goals for each foreign insurance company. The efforts of the infant Chinese insurance companies must shift and engage in the cultivation and development of the core competitiveness, while facing the international insurance companies which has solid foundation, advanced technology and rich experience, in this way, there is a possible chance for us to succeed in developing and growing. Core competitiveness will offer us new business idea, which is instead of attaching excessive importance to the market shares and vertical integration, for it is not the most important thing, we should concern the market value and emphasize on the processes, such as the R&D of the productions, the internalizing insurance services, and the externalizing insurance sale. The overall, In the Post WTO period, enterprise's competition will present mainly for the core competitiveness competition.This article discusses how to enhance the core competitiveness of the insurance company from internal factors as well as external factors. The access to enhance the core competitiveness from the internal factors of the Chinese insurance companies permeates with two main lines, the insurance products and the corporate culture; The access to enhance the core competitiveness from external factors is mainly focusing on how to make full use of external resources (including Insurance Regulatory Commission and Insurance Facilitating Agency ), to conform exterior effective resources as well as to set up a virtuous circle of external mechanisms.Cultivating and maintaining a mature home insurance market is the starting point in this article. Then, using the SWOT analyzing tool, the author has discovered the disparity in aspects like business efficiency, product innovation between Chinese insurance companies and foreign insurance companies. The following part is from the internal factor to discuss how to promote insurance enterprise core competitiveness, mainly manifesting in the ability of innovation development. It refers to emancipating the mind, deeply investigating and full consideration (before the innovation), risk controlling, the technological cooperation and the system support (in the innovation process), these measures are linked together, its goal lies in through the innovation creating as far as possible highly effective vivid value, the economic value and the brand value, which aim to make the person insured satisfying. From the internal factor analyzing the promoting way contains strengthening the organizational structure and information management of insurance companies and the foundation of highly effective insurance enterprise culture in order to maintain the sustainable development and so on. From the external factor analyzing the promoting way mainly refer to how the Chinese insurance enterprises use the enabling environment to set up a virtuous circle of external mechanisms.
