As the main form of energy production and consumption, coal has accounted for 70% of total energy production and consumption. And this is in direct proportion to the mortality rate of Chinese miners, although the death rate of million tons for the first time dropped below 1 in coal industry of 2009, the current security situation in the coal industry in China is still quite grim. Evaluation of existing research tends to study the safety and qualitative research, although some scholars in the empirical research are to make some attempt, there are still problems of subjective ways and little entirely reasonable sampling. On the consumption of coal mines and current situation of security incidents in China, researching and exploring the issue of coal mine safety accident causing a very important theoretical and practical significance. This empirical study, based on the theory and existing research at home and abroad, explores the coal mine safety factors causing the accident and the corresponding hypotheses, as well as sets up theoretical models of the causation factors of the safety accident in coal mines. Under the premise of ensuring data quality, this study tests hypotheses and theoretical models, and concludes empirical results to the interpretation, and further empirical analysis.Cognitive factors, management factors, institutional factors, inspiring factors found in the study have the significant effects on the occurrence of coal mine safety accidents; however some workers and managers have different views on the issue. Based on the empirical results, this thesis puts forward respectively from country, corporate and individual aspects to improve the status of mine safety and production safety management, improve the legal system, and to promote corporate safety cultural construction as well as safety education and training.
