"Resisting Foreign Aggression after Stabilizing the Country" being the basic policy of Nanjing national government for dealing with internal affairs and diplomacy after the "September 18th" accident, for many years, experts and scholars of mainland and Taiwan have written many thesises about it and given detailed discussion and evaluation from different sides, more than one angle of views. On such issues as when the policy was proposed and established, what it resulted from, what consequences it caused, how to evaluate it and so on, they have both agreement and disagreement, there being views almost on a par, as well as viewpoints of widely divergent. This thesis summarizes present research achievements on eight aspects, namely, when the policy was proposed and established, the specific contents of "Stabilizing the Country", the relationship between "Resisting Foreign Aggression" and "Stabilizing the Country", the relationship between the policy and the premise of anti-Japan, why the policy was proposed, why Nanjing national government changed and gave up the policy, what consequences the policy caused and how to evaluate the policy. Besides, the thesis also makes further research on following issues, such as what the practical performance of "Resisting Foreign Aggression" was during it was put into effect, how the policy influenced the relationship between the Nationalist Party and the Communist Party before Resistance War was totally broken out.
