In our everyday life, shyness is a common word used to describe the feeling of uncomfortable in social situations, especially in those unfamiliar ones.It is defined as an uneasy feeling in the interpersonal situations. It is a useful and normal reaction to new stimulation, but in the other way, generalized shyness and over-shyness may influence individual's learning and working behaviors,as well as physical and mental health. In recent years, researchers have found the percentage of self-reported shyness in the United States have escalated gradually to nearly 50%,while the same percentage was only 40%in the early 1970s.A group of researcher in Beijing Normal University studied the prevalence of shyness in Chinese college students, and found it to be a ubiquitous problem. As research of shyness is becoming a focus in social and personality psychology, massive papers found that shyness is associated with recognition, emotion, subjective of Well-being and self-efficacy.People with high level of shyness is likely to be diffidence while talking to others, have little confident in social skills and abilities of regulating their own emotion.By using Questionnaire of Adolescent Shyness,Social Self-Efficacy scale,Regulatory Emotional Self-efficacy scale and Questionnaire for the Subjective Well-being,the present study explored characteristic of adolescents' shyness, social self-efficacy,and emotional self-efficacy and subjective of Well-being and its relationship. The formal subjects were 773 high school students of Xi'an city. The results are as follows:1.Validity and reliability analyses showed that the psychometric qualities of the Questionnaire of Adolescent Shyness were acceptable.2.The Questionnaire of Adolescent Shyness contained three dimensions:emotional, behavior and cognitive. In this study, the three dimensions can strongly predict shyness of adolescent.Among this emotional dimension is the strongest predictor.3.The shyness level of high school students differs from grade to grade,as they grow up,their shyness level are likely to increase.Besides, students in the city show low level of shyness compared to students from rural area.Shyness has no relations with sexuality and their economic status.4.The self-efficacy level varies in different sexuality and grade.Social self-efficacy is increasing while students grow up;and females have a better level of social self-efficacy.As to emotional self-efficacy,different dimensions have very different characteristic.5.Shyness affect one's self-efficacy,and by doing this, had its influence on subjective of well-being.
