A Study On Cultivating Peasants 'Citizens' Consciousness From The Perspective Of Cultivating New Farmers

To some degree, the social transformation of China and the modernization problem of China lie in the modernization of rural society and the citizenship of farmers. In the social life of rural society, the citizenship of farmers is more important than other aspects. However, the reality of our country is that three quarters of all the population live in rural area which has been greatly influenced by traditional ideology. The traditional ideology which has accumulated for thousands of years has not disappeared quickly with the fierce social transformation for half of a century. Comparatively speaking, rural area conserves the system for the existence of traditional ideology, so traditional ideology has been the important hinder of modernization of our country. As a consequence, there are practical meaning and significance for studying the cultivation of farmers’ thought which means the cultivation of farmers’ civic awareness.There are five main parts of the thesis. Firstly, the thesis analyzes some concepts, such as civic awareness and civic awareness of farmers for making the deep content of new type farmers clear. Secondly, the thesis discusses the logical relevance between cultivating new type farmers and strengthening the civic awareness of farmers, which means strengthening the civic awareness of farmers is the inevitable requirement of cultivating new type farmers, cultivating new type farmers helps improve civic awareness of farmers and strengthening the civic awareness of farmers is very important for cultivating new type farmers. Then, the thesis gives a summary about the current situation of cultivating civic awareness of farmers, including the achievement and problems. For these problems, the thesis analyzes the main reasons of controlling civic awareness of farmers, including the absence of the leading role of the government in cultivation activities, the restriction of economic development level of rural area, the imperfection of democracy at the local level of rural area, the low cultural literacy of farmers and the low degree of farmers’ cooperation and organization. Lastly, for the problems about cultivating subject, object, content and manner of farmers’ civic awareness, the thesis provides some specific suggestions, such as improving the leading role of government in the cultivating process, accelerating the marketing process of rural economy, strengthening the democracy at the local level of rural area, improving the cultural construction for realizing the prosperity, developing the farmer’s cooperation organization and making good use of many ways for education of civic awareness.
