Research, Human Resource Development In The Western Region And Regional Economic Development

In knowledge-oriented economy age, human resources havebecome the most important impetus to social and economic development,which has been proved by economic development practice of many countries,especially by Japan and the USA. However, the study shows that the povertyof the western area results from its low-quality human resources.The thesis analyses the quality, quantity and structure of humanresources in China and comes to the conclusions: Low quality and excesscharacterize the human resources in the western area; The human structures inthe western area, including city-town structure, gender structure, industrialstructure and regional structure. The author adopts human resourcesdevelopment index and quantifies it. According to the quantified calculation,10 provinces are divided into four HRI types. Finally the thesis puts forwardthe human resources of the western region in China, with the hope to improvethe economic and social development of the western China greatly.
