I SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SELECTION OF THE THESISSince 1980's, with the emergence of such theories as JIT, Alliance and Logistics Supply Chain, the strategic role of warehouse has been changed to aim at the target of shorter cycle period, lower storage rate, less cost and better customer service. Today's warehouse is no longer a facility to store goods for a long period, whose operation is quicker, and attention is paid on the flowing speed of product in enterprises.Later in the 1990's, outsourcing has been one of the main trends of business. Enterprises are more focused on their own resources and business, and outsource the others. Logistics is generally deemed by manufactures and dealers to has functions of support and assistance. So industrial and commercial enterprises of developed countries no longer directly manage their logistics, but outsource from specialized logistics service companies. Some of them still maintain the function of logistics operations, more and more supplemented by outsourcing service contracts.Storage is the main part of third party logistics, which may be understood in a broad sense to be an outer logistics provider offering part or total services for enterprises' logistics functions. This broad definition includes providers of services such as transport, storage, product distribution, finance and so on. Third party logistics is an important development of conventional transport and storage, which, from the angle of operation, includes all logistics activities provided for logistics service users. Usually, Occident investigators define Third Party Logistics as to use outer companies to perform logistics functions, which are originally performed within one organization. Logistics functions performed by a third party logistics company include the whole logistics processing or part activities of the whole processing. With the development of international trade and transport, conventional freight forwarding industry couldn't adapt to the need for the development of logistics operation. Oriental Group is striving for development on a higher lever, and has decided, based on freight forwarding business, to construct logistics warehouses fitting the development of logistics business, and to provide customers with systematic, informative and perfect services from acceptance, vanning, devanning and delivery of goods to scattered processing, labeling, distribution and storage, etc.In this thesis, the author studies the significance, programming and design, positioning decision, storage management and EDI system, etc of Oriental Group's construction of logistics warehouse, and then theoretically demonstrates the feasibility of its construction of logistics warehouse and the applicability of its current business and further developing demand. When selecting this title, it happened that the Group was having high-level meetings discussing the construction of logistics warehouse. The contents and spirits are also the reason and background of the selection, which may be summed up as follows.1. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need to develqp logistics;2. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need of the Group's development;3. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need to compete within the same industry;4. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need to cooperate and develop with foreign funded shipping companies after entry into WTO;5. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need to provide customers with complete services;6. Construction of logistics warehouse is the need of modern management.II CONTENTS AND PURPOSE OF THE THESISIn chapter 1, the author discusses the necessity of construction of logistics warehouse, which is considered mainly from the angle of development of logistics and the Group's business, and is the result of competition within the industry. Besides the construction, it is also considered from all kinds of business developments brought by the construction of logistics warehouse. In chapter 2,...
