Geo-economics came into being in the early 1990s. As a new theory, it was concerned by experts in home and abroad. However, the knowledge about geo-economics is very limited because of its short history. Therefore, the author firstly analyses the theory in itself. Then the author points out the geo-economic effects on Asian-Pacific economy. What s more, the author looks ahead the future Asian-Pacific economy from a geo-economic perspective.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the fundamental theory of geo-economics. In this part, the author firstly presents the background of generation of geo-economics . Then the author gives the definition, character and essence of geo -economics.The second part makes a brief introduction to the reasons of generation of geo-economics in the Asian-pacific region. To begin with, economic globalization provides an opportunity for the generation of geo-economics; secondly, complementary economy resources are the intrinsic reason; thirdly, market economy plays an important role in this process, and so on.The third part elaborates the geo-economic effects on Asian-Pacific economy. Geo-economics is the intrinsic mechanism to form the economy groups and it speeds up economic cooperation in the Asian-pacific region. Moreover, it prompts the inter-dependence among nations & regions. On the other hand, it has some bad effects on this region.The fourth part looks ahead the future Asian - Pacific economy from a geo-economic perspective. The thesis firstly analyses geo - economic strategies in America, Japan, Russia, ASEAN and etc. Then it points out the geo - economic strategies of China in the future.
