Performance management is a very important component of the human resource management system. As a part of human resource management, performance management system is contacted with other systems, such as recruitment, selection, compensation, and development, and the performance management system design is a complex problem.Performance management system designing is the precondition and core of setting up human resources management system of modern enterprises. To establish a performance management system is a new direction for the initiatives of managing performance and an important part of all management system. It is an entirely new and critical task for all the Chinese enterprises to design and establish a performance management system which is applicable to china's practical situation and meets the needs for the enterprises to grow in today's economic globalization. Especially to some little corporations changed from state-owned enterprises, it is a juncture for the enterprise's growth to establish a scientific performance management system based on the enterprise's practical situation to improve its competition ability. This paper starts from the basic theory and method of performance management, and in combination with the specific performance management of G Company, makes an all-round study of the performance management system design.The first Section gives a brief introduction of the current status of the company's human resource management and performance evaluation identifies the problems in the company's management so that a resolution can be found to tackle the problem. Section two introduces the theories about performance management and discriminates the terms of performance, performance evaluation, and performance management,and gives an analysis which is made of the misconceptions on performance management that are widely spread in china's business community. They are redefined in light of the new theories and practices of performance management at home and abroad. The third section shows the designing process of performance management system which including making job analysis, establishing job description, constituting evaluation principle, laying out performance criteria and the standards, setting polices on who and when to rate ,choosing the evaluation methods, etc. In the section four, the writer concludes the performance management system and presents amendment advices.
