A knowledge type of middle level executives is an especial colony of modern corporation. As the market competition is becoming more and more acute, the performance of knowledge type manager plays a more and more particular and important role, which influences the performance of the corporation at first hand. It should be necessary and significant to lucubrate the performance of the knowledge type of middle level executives and establish suitable performance appraisal system and the proper appraisal methods.This thesis will mainly study how to establish the model of performance appraisal for the knowledge type of middle level executive. First, the problem of their appraisal system are analyzed. On the basis of the inside and outside correlative literatures, administrator's behavior theory and objectives management theory, orienting to enterprise tactic and position analysis of executive, it analyze the factors which mainly affect the middle level executive's performance, making a conclusion that task performance, contextual performance, ability and impersonality condition are the four dimensionalities through which the performance of knowledge type executives can be appraised. Then basing of the dimensionalities, it gets twenty seven performance appraisal indexes, forming a list. This appraisal framework, list and index are advised by five experts, tested by 200 questionnaire samples in two enterprises, modified with Spss(factor analysis), the suited system for performance appraisal is established. In the course of putting it into practice, it combines the list with AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), Fuzzy Mathematics and Maple, designing a appropriate pattern for the system.Finally, 200 effective samples test the reliability of the inventory by Cronbach' a, Item-Total Correlation. At the same time, the study tests the construct validity by LISREL. The result of the study gets an inventory with nice reliability and validity.Its research results may be applied not only for the middle-level executive, adjusting the index, it should be used in other colonies for performance appraisal.
