Study Of Energy Issues In Sino-us Relations

Energy is the basic condition and the source of power of modern economic development. Recently in particular, with energy price soaring, the greenhouse effect increasing, situation of energy supply and demand worsening, energy shortage and environmental problems have become the subjects of global energy issues. At present, the United States and China are the two largest energy consumers of all the world's energy consumers. In the situation of growing energy shortage in the world, the two countries in the worldwide oil and gas resources contest inevitably give rise to new disputes, but at the same time, it is also necessary for the two countries to cooperate in the energy sector. Energy-based competition and cooperation carried out between the two powers has become a new factor which will influence the relations of the two countries, and must add new variables to the Sino-US relations and contemporary international relations.In this dissertation, energy issue in Sino-US relations and China's strategic measures is analyzed in four parts by means of literature study, system analysis, forecasting analysis and other methods:The first part describes the energy issue in Sino-US relations and analyses the status of the global energy issue under the current situation. This part will organize the energy status of China and the United States and further analyze energy issue between the two countries.The second part analyzes the competition and cooperation on energy issues and pays more attention to the energy competition between China and the United State in the Middle East, the Caspian Sea, Africa, Latin America and other places. And in this part, the author will study the ways and prospects of cooperation on energy issues between the two countries.Part three is the analysis of effect on Sino-US relations because of energy issues. This part will describe the potential conflicts and contradictions affected by energy issues, and analyze the effect on the Sino-US relations from the perspective of energy security and positive factors which lend themselves to strengthening Sino-US relations on energy cooperation.Part four explores China's strategic countermeasures on the energy issue between the United States and China. The author of this paper advises that China should strengthen Sino-US energy cooperation, expand the Central Asia and the Caspian Sea energy international system and multilateral energy cooperation, and strengthen the awareness of saving energy and internal oil reserves in China, and so on.
