Small class education, which is called"a revolution in the area of education", is an inevitable phenomenon which appears in the area of education with the economic development and decrease in population of a country. As a hot spot studied at home and abroad, recently, for ten years or so, it has already become a new field with much special research. However, study on how to teach Chinese reading in small classes seems quite limited. Entering into the 21st Century, there has been increasing demands for better- qualified members of the society, which bring both new chances and new challenges in education. As a new kind of teaching style, teaching Chinese reading in small classes in junior middle school has come into being in order to adapt education to meet the needs of social development and each individual person.Staying in the background of thorough research on how to teach Chinese reading both at home and abroad and on the theoretical basis of Chinese–teaching strategy, which are all related to teach Chinese reading in small classes, the writer has tried to separate Chinese–teaching strategy into different parts, reorganize the theory and rebuild the model. In order to have a clear understanding of the the current situation, find out the possible problems which may lead to inefficient teaching results, analyze the reasons and finally propose improvements on Chinese–teaching strategy used in small classes, the writer has tried various approaches, such as class-observing approach, interviews and questionnaire-completing approach. By doing so, the writer is trying to help the teachers understand the Chinese-teaching strategy used in small classes better and improve their teaching through constant practice. Above all,the biggest goal the writer is trying to achieve is to help teachers find a way which is not only feasible but also practical to cultivate more able students in Chinese reading.
