In today's world the development is diversified, technological advances change quickly, and international competition becomes increasingly fierce. The competition between nations is not the competition of wealth and force, but the competition of national scientific and cultural quality. The key is education. To enhance the national strength and power of future international competition, countries must start from the basic education curriculum reform, adjust the talent training objectives, change the talent training model, and improve the talent training quality. Inquiry teaching receives much concern because of its outstanding contributions of training students' ability. Since the 60s of last century, Schwab clearly stated the concept of "teaching science as inquiry" the view of "developing students' ability of inquiry learning, and emphasizing that inquiry is the center of scientific education", has gradually been recognized by worldwide basic education. With the implementation of basic education curriculum reform, inquiry teaching as the basic biology course idea is proposed. Promoting "inquiry teaching" further development in the field of basic education is the requirement of the era and the choice of basic education in the world.Just a few years, numerous studies of inquiry teaching have emerged in middle school. Teachers are education reformers. Their understanding of the inquiry is the key to the successful implementation of inquiry teaching. To understand teachers' use of inquiry teaching and take appropriate measures in practice, the author explores the relevant 497 papers published by national middle school biology teachers in 4 journals which have great influence in our nation. The results show that names of inquiry teaching are different, the theoretical foundation of inquiry teaching is weak, patterns of inquiry teaching are superficial, self-exploration level of students is low, and teaching evaluation becomes a slogan.Teaching evaluation in the process of inquiry teaching is essential. Teachers can receive the feedback of students learning and improve teaching continuously by teaching assessment. Students can understand their own learning and promote better development of their own. By analysing the questionnaires about evaluation by biology teachers in middle school, the results show that teachers basically understand and agree with the new ideas of evaluation, can use a variety of evaluation methods, and have a better change in behavior. But there are many problems in practice, such as the superficial understanding of evaluation, lack of the technical guidance of maneuverability.Improving the status of inquiry teaching requires teachers by school training, expert lectures, theoretical learning and other ways, absorb the knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, philosophy of science, sociology, history and other disciplines which supports the theory of inquiry teaching; Teachers should summarize their own experience, put the educational theory into the teaching idea and behavior by reflective practice; Making inquiry teaching evaluation standards promotes the integration of inquiry teaching and evaluation; Establish long-lasting, reasonable appraisal system to change the way of teaching.Finally, the author puts forward some questions:1.How is the structure of teachers'knowledge on inquiry learning? 2. How to strength the theoretical and practical training of normal university students? 3. How to improve middle school biology teachers' understanding of inquiry learning evaluation? 4. How to prove the science and effectiveness of inquiry learning evaluation system.
